THE STREAMLINERS
Blues, jump blues and swing from jazzy Eugene outfit
This band plays music by everybody from Louis Prima to Ray Charles, presenting a different approach to the blues. The lead guitarist is Michael Anderson, a West Coast guy who has performed all over, solo, in jazz groups and behind the sound boards recording and producing. He can whip his guitar through just about anything and has a solid voice perfect for the style. On drums is Rick Markstrom, keeping the beat since the late 60s, and on bass is New York City native Mike Hatgis, who has performed Top 40, Middle-Eastern dance, R&B, Blues, Jazz, and Latin.

SOULICIOUS
Funk and rock: Janis Joplin meets Mavis Staples
Led by Paula Vaden on vocals, rhythm guitar and percussion, the band includes Gerry Rempel on lead guitar, Sharon Greve on drums, Cheryl Camelio on vocals and percussion, JoAnne Lutz on keyboard and Jamie Porter on bass. They call their sound "Mo-funkin' Motown" but to some people it's good old R&B from a bunch of experienced musicians who know how to get the club rockin'.

KOLVANE
Rockin' Portland band with a Cashbox No. 1 single
Kolvane's "Cool Baby" single reached and held the No. 1 spot in the Blues Singles category for two months on Cashbox Magazine's music chart. No small achievement for an independent band from Portland, its name right there next to Elvin Bishop, The Mannish Boys and Tab Benoit. In the last four years singer/songwriter Kolvane took the Rose City Kings from obscurity to notoriety; then morphed into the band Kolvane, playing a rollicking style of rock with the crash-energy Kolvane blasting around the stage and Louisiana keyboard monster Steve Kerin rattling the room with boogie-woogie that let's you feel the Fess.

DEADWOOD REVIVAL
Acoustic alt country, the old meets the new - from Port Angeles
The mix here is what might be called new-time/ old-time or maybe new legs for an old horse. The spirit is Appalachian with soulful American roots, and a lot of jamband improvisation. Jason Mogi (banjo and vocals) and Kim Trenerry (guitar and vocals) are the originals, he from California via the rock/jam scene, she from Georgia with a hill country background right out of a Carter family picnic. Newbies are Ches Ferguson, a Deadhead from the old days, adding that bass line to the spry sharp harmonies, and Julie Campbell, who brings her fierce fiddle following a stint with "Looking Glass." Winner of the Peoples Choice Award at the Florence Folk Festival last year.

I-CHELE
& THE CIRCLE OF LIGHT
Reggae from the heart - voted Eugene's Best Reggae/World Beat Band for 2007 and 2008
The drifting rhythms of the reggae groove are hard to find in the land of the big trees, but they are there... or in this case, here. I-chele has put together a sensuous unit of sound and built it carefully over the years, never losing the spark. Vince Black adds that true Jamaican feel and a large and talented percussion section weaves that tropical balance. With Roger McConnell on guitar.

RICHARD SHARPLESS
Blues and more from a king size songbook
Richard on Richard: "Played in Nashville doing demos and working on my chops. Backed Pam Tillis at the Grand Ole Opry once, but tried not to let Country music taint me. Came back to Oregon where I played in open mike forums until landing a job playing music at the Drift Inn in Yachats, Oregon. I spend time haunting cheesy used-stuff places and looking for a twelve-stringed resonator guitar. I taught electronic music in the 80's, but it's way beyond me now, so I also need to buy a synth. I was a lab techinition at Vanderbilt University in Nashville and the Neurological Science Center in Portland, Oregon for 23 years. I read sci fi alot, and contemplate the universe at least once a day and bathe regularly. Thank you."

KEVIN SELFE
& THE TORNADOES
High-energy blues from a Muddy Award nominee
Before moving to Portland two years ago from Roanoke, Va., this master bluesman played over 1,500 gigs in 15 states, conquering a wide circle of East Coast venues. But his new start in the Northwest has given him a fresh outlook, a boatload of new fans and a deep appreciation from the blues community, so much so he's been nominated for six Muddy Awards including Best New Act, Best Contemporary Blues Act and Best Electric Guitar. He's become something of a mainstay at the Landmark, giving a variety of performances, suitable to the crowd, the weather, the whatnot.

JERRY ZYBACH with JOHNNY 'THE BEE" BRYSON
Groovy Sunday stuff from one of the Northwest's top bluesmasters
Accomplished singer, guitarist, bassist, songwriter, arranger, and band leader, Jerry Zybach does it all. Thirty some years into it, he's at the top of his game and just keeps growing as an artist. Classical voice training as a young man gives him a unique take on the songs he loves. He has a great ability to project emotion whether he's playing his Gibson 135, his Harmony H50, his collection of resonators or acoustics, finger style and slide. He's ripped up the Landmark on many occasions and is one of the coast's favorite performers.
